Founded in March 2012, the Ames Research Center Co-operative for Research in Earth Science and Technology (ARC-CREST), a cooperative agreement between Bay Area Environmental Research Institute (BAERI), California State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and NASA Ames Research Center (NASA-ARC), prepares the next generation of Earth scientists. Student participation in ARC-CREST research projects is available through the following opportunities. Please click the links to be directed to the appropriate pages to apply.

Undergraduate students in the senior year participate in an 8-week long research experience (summer) where they participate in all aspects of an airborne scientific research field campaign. Students set out scientific objectives, conduct field campaign planning, and logistics, integrate instrumentation, operate instruments during science flights, and analyze data and present results. Science flights are conducted on the NASA DC-8 aircraft and research projects study surface, atmospheric, and oceanographic processes.

Opportunities for students to work on ARC-CREST projects under the direction of ARC-CREST scientists or NASA partners are available each year. Internships related to an ARC-CREST project are located at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, CA. All student internships at all NASA centers are administered through NASA’s Office of Education Infrastructure Division.
